It's a crime stuck on repeat:

The penthouse suite at the ritziest hotel in a major southern city is rented out. Someone inevitably does a welfare check. Whoever the unlucky person is, the maid, the manager, or a loved one, finds the suite's main room drenched in blood.

In horror, they report the crime to the human authorities, but the East Coast Council of Magic's Enforcer's local branch intercepts the call.

Upon investigation, no bones are found, no entrails, not even a diamond-studded earring left behind. All that is left are the skins of the victims discarded like trash in or by the dumpster.

Then, they call me.

It's been eight years since the first murder, and I, Odessa St. James, have been following the discarded skins across the Southern United States, looking for the killer. When the latest victim from Atlanta, Georgia, can be traced back to a party hosted by Morningstar Industries, I have to go undercover and work for the Devil himself. Literally.
