The Garden Man was Mr. Waters' first fiction written following a career lay-off from a Fortune 500 IT firm. During the daily grind over several months of job searching, he began writing this story based on real and fictitious people in his upscale neighborhood. Moving on to two full-length non-fiction titles pertaining to technology and culture, Waters returned to The Garden Man. He says the story is still his favorite as the many characters portrayed still remain within blocks of his house.
