Legends says that in the dawn of time, Prometheus created two beings. First were the humans, and he gave them fire. Then he breathed life into the Viscerebus and gave them superhuman abilities, shapeshifting power and the need to consume human viscera. This pitted the two beings against each other. The Vis hunt for sustenance, the humans for survival. Then humans dominated the planet with their superior number and weapons of mass destruction. With 250 million Viscerebus against seven billion humans, the balance of power became disproportionate.

To survive, the Viscerebus allowed their existence to fade into the annals of myths, legends and folklore. And the humans stopped hunting the beings they believed do not exist. For centuries, the Viscerebus lived hidden in plain sight among human societies.

Yuana and Roald were born to a privileged existence. Destiny gave them everything one could ask for in life. The one thing they want above all else is the only thing destiny denied them both - each other. She is Viscerebus. He is human.

Their love cannot thrive in secrecy, but her truth can kill. To tell him is to endanger his life, from her kind, or from her own hand. To keep the Veil of Secrecy is to disappear from his life forever.

Then fate upped the stakes - she found out she is more Viscerebus than most, he has more reason to hate her kind, and time is running out.
