Raider is now part of the Challenge Yacht Charters team, and after eighteen successful months racing in Australia, Aidan Grifford decides to test the boat on the international scene. He sets his sights on the 2019 Transpac and ships the boat to the USA to compete in the biennial race from Los Angles to Hawaii.
The Transpac is the longest and toughest race Aidan has competed in. With Raider touted as a line honours contender, he maps out a meticulous plan that he hopes will deliver a victory. However, not everyone is happy to see Raider racing in America. Aidan's plan begins to unravel when one crew member fails to arrive and is substituted by an unknown sailor. When a spy for the opposition is discovered in the team, and the missing crew member is found murdered on the other side of the world, a series of events unfold aimed at derailing Raider's chances of winning. Aidan struggles to keep his race campaign on track, and when he discovers that someone from his past has a score to settle, he wonders if entering the Transpac was a mistake. With the race only days away, it's too late to pull out, and when Raider's engineer makes a shocking discovery three days into the race, Aidan must deal with potentially deadly consequences that test his limits of endurance and threaten everything he has.
