Not everyone agrees Siangu is no longer king.

The cultists have been dealt with, and it's time to look to what comes next. In company with his students and new partner, Siangu makes for the nearest city, Umelin, looking to start fresh. But life as a simple businessman may not be quite what he hoped: he's entering a world peopled by monsters he hasn't encountered before like trade guilds and bureaucrats. Petty government officials offended by his presence and keen to make themselves his enemies.

The news isn't all bad: their fellow citizens are more welcoming. They may not be able to help Siangu and his students, though, until they get some help themselves: Umelin is in crisis. Ships are sinking for unknown reasons, fishing rigs on ventures that should have been low-risk. Siangu suspects a player from the ancient world, but he isn't prepared to find his foe looking right back at him. There are timeless beings of awesome power convinced it was not reasonable or even possible for him to abdicate.

He isn't in charge of anything anymore but his own decisions, including his willingness to do the right thing no matter what the consequences. When it catches up with him, his students will have to be the heroes they're still training to become. Whether or not they're ready for it.
