My life was all planned out. College degree in criminal justice…check. Work with the local sheriff's department to get some experience before starting the training program at the FBI…check. One wrong call landing me in the hospital with a broken body…was not on my list.

I lost a part of myself when my career dreams ended. I didn’t think I’d ever be satisfied staying in Thorngrove and working as a low-level deputy. I didn’t think I could ever have the life I was meant to have.

But as Dr. Lachlan Reid worked to mend my body, I found myself falling for him. I started believing that everything really does happen for a reason. I let myself imagine a new life with him despite his insistence that nothing could happen between us while I was his patient.

Once I was healed and my career was on a new path, I took a trip to Vegas to celebrate. When I ran into Dr. Reid in the casino, I knew our time was finally right. I knew from experience how plans could change in an instance. So I didn’t even think about what I was doing when I pulled him into a wedding chapel on the Vegas strip.

I just hope neither of us regret our rash decision once we’re back home.
