Stephan F. Johnson
For the last 19 years, Stephan F. Johnson has been a professor of Philosophy at City College of San Francisco. Before that, he held teaching positions at Cal State East Bay and the University of San Francisco. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and his B.A. in philosophy from UC Berkeley. He has published exactly one other piece of philosophy (a paper on the reality of race as a biological category--'Review of Philosophy of Science and Race, by Naomi Zack', Essays in Philosophy 5 (1):190-197 (2004)).
The above book included, by far his most valuable contribution to philosophy will be his students, many of whom have gone on to become professors of philosophy (and other disciplines as well). What he's done to deserve them he knows not what.
His wife, Shunzi Che, is a well known Bay Area fashion entrepeneur and together they have a son, Lundon. When he's not teaching, Stephan plays competitive USTA tennis and travels with his wife and son.
