It's the end of the 17th century.

A time when raids across the Scottish/English border are beginning to die out. But as all farming stock know … you must never rest on your laurels.

Following an arson-fuelled raid on Abby's family's farmhouse, she becomes separated from her brothers and father. Desperate, alone and scared, she comes face-to-face with Poddle, a funny little goblin; the likes of which her brothers had warned her about.

Then there's Robert whom she meets by chance. He seems friendly and kind enough, but can he be trusted?

And then nasty old Ed reappears. The farmworker who Abby's father had to get rid of because he caught him stealing. Now he definitely can't be trusted.

All Abby wants is for everything to go back to how things were and for her family to be safe.
