Tony Hayman

Tony is British but has spent the best part of his life overseas (mainly in the tropics) mostly teaching English at secondary and tertiary level. He has been Head of English in four schools and has been Chief English Examiner.

He has worked in Europe, North America, Africa, the Pacific & Asia & has travelled overland to India via Iran, Afghanistan & Pakistan. He was a founder member of the Seychelles Children’s Society which ran camps & courses for underprivileged children as well as providing direct assistance & education to families & advice to Government. He organised netball for girls & women at both national & international levels (including national team tours to Kenya & Sri Lanka). He redesigned & implemented English oral exams in Vanuatu as Chief English Examiner & he created Quality Assurance guidelines for a university in Malaysia. He was involved in a public/private initiative to improve English teaching in Malaysian Chinese medium schools. He also advised the Malaysian Ministry of Education on a Primary Level project to enhance the teaching of early years English.

He has experience in radio & television broadcasting, filming (including programmes for the History Channel) & organisation of cultural & sporting activities at international level. He has considerable experience of acting & directing.

As lead consultant, he advised on the setting up of a UK university campus in Putrajaya, Malaysia. He prepared & presented the proposal directly to major universities in the UK & to the UK Government resulting in Heriot-Watt University from Scotland establishing a campus there in 2014.

Nowadays, he teaches English to students online & writes extensively. He is currently revising a book on heart health & is half way through another teen novel.

Tony is married to a Malaysian who has been an international Agricultural & Environmental consultant (with ADB, World Bank, UN, EU & DANCED) & they have two daughters & two grandchildren.

Whenever he can, he enjoys swimming, working in the garden, reading, travelling & making marmalade. He loves writing & hopes to write many more books.
