About the author

Mary Black

Mary Black was born in Herakleion, the largest city of Crete. Her first impressions and literary influences came from the Greek fairy tales she listened to. Captain Nemo, the Young Prince, and Hansel and Gretel became her companions and formed the material from which she drew to make stories for children. She studied music and political science. For a number of years, she wrote opinion articles for local newspapers of Herakleion. She started her travels from the places she describes in her stories. Her first four books are in the series The Time-machine Diaries, titled Travels in Time: Minoan Crete, Venetian Crete, The Battle of Crete, and Alexander the Great in Pergamum. She has written many other books for children: Magic Bible, Fairy tales, Travel in the Sun, The four seasons and the abduction of Persephone. Her books have awarded from Reader’s favorite and International Art Society.
