Of all the things that could happen, it had to be this. Political marriages were supposed to be a thing of the past, but that wasn't the case anymore. Her family was planning one for her, and she was expected to follow along with it. Vampires didn't function like other people.

On top of all that. It had to be him. It had to be the man that had broken her heart all those years ago. Lucas. The vampire with the charming eyes and chiseled cheekbones. She had loved him for years, even before he had become the sheer epitome of manliness he was today. She had wanted to be with him, but he had never wanted to be with her.

And all that was left was a gaping well of pain in her chest. She had spent years getting over that pain, and had even started to feel better about her life. She had moved on. It hadn't been easy, not at all, but it had worked.

But there he was again, standing across the table from her while their families discussed the merger of two companies. The plan was that the wedding would bring them together, increase the profitability for both of them.

And everyone seemed so happy about this, everyone except Noora. She wanted nothing to do with it, but she was going to go through with it, because it would help her family.

But first she had to set some ground rules with Lucas. There was no way that she was going to let him just walk all over her heart again. She deserved better than that.
