A year after his cousin's passing, and Alejandro "Ale" Chavez is still grappling with nightmares, which are even worse than before. His best friend Edd tries to help him, but Ale refuses to admit that he has a problem. He just wants to focus on getting his associate's degree, and passing his boring creative writing class. But through writing poetry, Ale starts to learn more about grief, himself, and the person he loves most in this world. 

This story is set in the mid 1990s and is a spin-off novelization of the RPG games Campground and Grunge.
