Thomas James (more formally known as Thomas B. James; less formally known as Tom James) is an attorney in private practice. His practice has ranged from successfully defending First Amendment and other constitutional rights in the courts of appeals, to advising and representing web hosting services, small businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals. Currently, his practice is principally focused on trademark registration and representation, copyright registration and representation, business and e-commerce law, nonprofit organizations, appeals and appellate practice.
Tom James is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and Southwestern University, and a past recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for legal scholarship A long-time member of state and local bar associations, attorney Thomas James also a member of the American Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of Minnesota, and admitted to the bars of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He is authorized to represent clients nationwide in copyright and trademark registration matters in the U.S. Copyright Office, U.S. trademark office and the United States Trademark Trials and Appeals Board (TTAB).
Tom James has published articles in a variety of bar journals and consumer periodicals, as well as online publications. He is also the author several books, including "E-Commerce Law: The Legal Compliance Handbook for Online Businesses," "Website Law," and "The History of Custody Law."
