The Author, Dr, Béla Szepesi, Ph. D. was born in Ozd, Hungary. He attended Elementary School at Ozd and later Miskolc, then went to school at Esztergom (at a military High School (Gymnasium)) and then at Miskolc before the 1956 Revolution. After the Revolution, he emigrated to the US where he arrived on the First of January 1957. His undergraduate years were spent in Albion College (Michigan, BA) then went to graduate school (Colorado State U, M.S. in Biochemistry/Endocrinology) and finished his Ph. D. work at UC Davis, California in Comparative Biochemistry. After that he spent another year in the  Laboratory of Dr. Richard A. Freedland of UC Davis, California. He spent 23 years as a Nutritional Biochemist at the Carbohydrates Laboratory of the Nutrition Institute in Beltsville, Maryland, and was retired as a GS-14 Biochemist. He prefers to be called MR 'B', since the title of Mr is good enough for the President of the United States it is good enough for him. He lives in Texas with his wife of 63 years and has three children.
