A unique children’s book about adoption

A miniature horse who feels different learns to adapt to a new home and family.

When an adorable but sometimes naughty miniature horse named Alvin learns he must leave his birth mother and the farm life that he knows, he is scared but excited for the journey and experiences that await him.

On the farm, Alvin has a life that is carefree and loves to play and frolic in the straw, visiting other animals in the pens near his own, and venturing away from his mother’s side to explore his surroundings. When he is four months old, Alvin’s mother tells the foal he will soon be an adult horse and will leave to a new family, though she loves him very much. Alvin is sad and nervous.

Looking handsome in a new halter and lead rope, the day arrives for Alvin to be adopted. At his new farm, Alvin’s new mommy is a young girl who is caring and makes him feel welcome. He makes friends with his new “sisters” — a dalmatian and a Welsh Corgi — and a big sorrel gelding named Schmalls who likes to fuss over him. Alvin feels loved and secure with his new farm family.
