About the author

Mark McCraw

Mark H. McCraw has spent more than a decade in education, working with children and students of all ages, from infants through college students. He is an Air Force/Air Force Reserve Disabled Veteran. Mark is a father of four adult children and a grandfather of nine grandchildren. He currently lives in Oklahoma.

​​​​​​​He is the author of 10 children's books, published in two anthologies,  and listed on websites internationally in over 20 countries plus 20 other websites. Mark has donated  77 books for the Month of the Military Child in April  at Tinker AFB and to the Moore Public School Book Bus a set of his children's books.  He participates in the annual Readathon on Facebook and has participated in two  Virtual Author Festivals . He has read to over 1.000 students in daycares and schools combined in person and virtually. When he visits schools and daycares, he gives them a set of books to encourage literacy.

​​​​​​​In addition, he has read on  You Tube -Indie Read Alouds four times. Mark has been interviewed 12 times on six podcasts and a blog on :  Author Alcove (2 Times), Defining Moments (1), The Authors Show (1), BookParty Podcast (3 ) , Indie Read Alouds (4), and Just Therapy with Comedian Shawn Boyd (1) , and an author blog (1). Mark has been in the local newspaper and been involved in two author panels . One author panel was in Pensacola, Florida at the Books by the Bay Festival in April 2024 and on the Oklahoma City Metro Library LitFest Author Panel both on the subject of self-publishing.

​​​​​​His latest adventure is to participate in the Oklahoma City Book Buddy Reading Program during the 2024-2025 school year. Mark has participated in over 80 different events in the last couple of years.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Mark has received first place awards in three writing categories locally for the National VA Creative Arts Local Competition.

​​​​​​​His first book, "Did You Come Home for Lunch"  was on display at the San Diego Festival of Books in 2022,  Archway Publishing Conference in Times Square New York-2023, and currently projecting to be at the Miami Book Fair in November 2024.

​​​​​​​One other book, "Nicoli Picoli" was in the Top 10 Best Selling  Children's Books in Oklahoma as reported by five independent book stores in March 2024.

​​​​​​​Mark is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCWBI), American Library Assoc, (ALA), Oklahoma Writers Federation , Inc.  (OWFI), Korea Defense Veterans Association (KDVA) , American Legion Boys State Recruiter, and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) 1st Jr. Vice Commander.
