It is 1860 and Fanny is going west to be a mail order bride.

Having decided to go after her own happiness, Fanny answers an ad for a Mail order Bride on the matrimonial news. Little does she know that her groom to be is the twin brother of her brother-in-law who is married to her twin sister Emaline. The chemistry between them is instant, and they get married two days later in a little wooden church.

Unfortunately tragedy strikes in the form of sickness only months after their marriage. The Doctor discovers a painful abscess in her lower abdomen that requires treatment he is, unfortunately, unable to provide.

Morris considers going to get a Native medicine man to come treat his wife, but she will hear none of it. That is against her faith, she ascertains.
