Randolph Splitter has published four other books, including a recently reissued work of literary criticism and three works of fiction, most recently a literary/historical novel about Jewish refugees from Vienna in the late 1930s called The Third Man. He has also published short stories, made short films, and written feature-length screenplays (including one based on The Third Man). He earned a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley; taught college English for many years; and currently lives with his wife in Portland, Oregon, where he dodges raindrops, exercises his social conscience, and continues to write.
