Sammy

My older brother, someone who I always wanted to be close to but couldn't be. Someone who I had always looked up to, but he remained out of reach. I often wondered if that was why I was attracted to him the way that I was. The way that I shouldn't be. I was twenty-four now, and Ben was thirty. He had moved out of my parent's home just after my twenty-first birthday. I saw only a little of him before then. He was hugely passionate when it came to the work that he did, and he traveled a lot for it. He was always on the road. Only coming back when it comes to holidays. I would always try to spend as much time around him as possible, but I backed off when I started seeing Ben as something other than my brother. I can't say that he noticed, though. He never paid me any attention. In fact, this was the most extended conversation we'd ever had.

Seeing her as soon as I pulled up to the cabin had been the last thing I had expected. But it wasn't like I could turn the car around after she had seen me. We were both there together, and I had no choice but to stay with her. Not for the whole weekend. In the morning, I would leave, make up an excuse and leave, and then Sammy could have the quiet weekend she had hoped for. All I had to do was get through one night. Surly even fucked up little me could do that.
