I was born to an impoverished family, living in a secluded area called Lagadlad Gen Trias in Cavite, the Philippines, on September 8, 1964. My parents were overjoyed at my birth; they named me 'Evelyn Garcia Panganiban,' but called me by my nickname 'Belen.' My father's name was Gorgonio "Ginyong" Amon Panganiban, and he was a farmer. My mother's name was Zoila "Lilay" Navalez Garcia; she helped my father on the farm. Lord Jesus has ordained that parents have certain natural responsibilities. Both of them adore and take care of others, but due to the fragilities that come with motherhood, their duties must be divided.
