Growing up in rural southern Kentucky, Scarlett developed a deep love and appreciation for front porch conversations. It is from these bonds and personal life experiences that she gets her writing inspiration. 

Scarlett received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a Minor in Women's Studies from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, graduating cum laude. In 2005, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisville with a Doctorate in Dental Medicine.  She is a full-time practicing dentist in Savannah, Georgia where she has resided for 16 years.

She is most proud of her toughest job, being a mommy to three hilarious and intensely loving kids. In her minimal free time, Scarlett enjoys yoga, running, and napping.  She believes profusely in indoor hammocks, firm handshakes, letting her children make their own mistakes, and that words have the power to heal.
