Confronted by an abusive father during an investigation, altruistic social worker, Ethan Harper, kills the man in self-defense. After years of strictly adhering to the laws and practices necessary to do his job at Child and Family Services, his moral compass is altered when realizing what he can accomplish outside the law.

Despite the consequences of his actions, Ethan never forgets that when the law fails, he's every child's last hope.
