Along with pursuing interests that are unfamiliar to both of you, you can strengthen your relationship with your partner by pursuing activities that are unique to one of you. This demonstrates your genuine concern for the other person, as you're prepared to go out of your way to understand them, and it gives the two of you other activities to do together.

Why Would You Pursue Something In Which You Have No Interest?

For some, the prospect of pursuing interests that are not their own appears to be a daunting job. There are, however, numerous compelling reasons to attempt it regardless.

To begin, engaging in activities that are not your first choice merely because they are essential to your spouse transmits a variety of messages to them, all of them positive. It demonstrates that you value them more than your personal comfort level and that you are willing to attempt new things simply because your spouse is in your life. All of these will contribute to the two of you developing a stronger bond.

Second, long-term relationships require a great deal of giving and taking. If you're unable to join this area of the relationship through something as basic as spending an afternoon doing something you don't particularly enjoy, you should reconsider your readiness for a more serious relationship.
