Kashaine Gray is a clinical researcher by day, an artist some days, a writer on other days and an explorer at heart. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica and emigrated to the United States with her family, as a child. Her first poem “My Favorite Place” was written in elementary school as a class assignment. It was the first time she had ever written a poem. Throughout the years poetry became a way of giving a voice to the words she could not speak, the disappointments she endured and the tears she was unable to cry. Poetry became a playground where she could freely express herself outside the rules of writing and the rules of the world she lived in.
