Well, as people who work with children, we all dream of this, don’t we? This book is a collection of short stories to read aloud to kids aged 8-12. Parents and grandparents can read them, too! Most have some humor, some a bit of fantasy. A few are true-life adventures, with a bit of fictionalizing to spice them up. (I really did almost lose my glasses to a monkey in Bali!)

Reading aloud for me has always been not just a way to model reading text or practice listening, but also a way to introduce others to new worlds they may not have experienced before.

I offer this collection as a way to spark your students’ own stories and curiosity, or as a bonding time at the end of the day. The afterword is a tribute to teachers everywhere, as a way of saying thank you for all you do.
