For a child to feel comfortable in the world of numbers he or she needs to clearly understand what the basic numbers that make up this disciplined form are and how they follow each other. Care needs to be taken though, not to create complicated distractions such as animal and human characters and their actions, as arithmetic is an extremely confined and regulated form.
