Dr. Phyllis Bivins-Hudson has been an educator since 1979, and she is the co-founder and instructor for Rutgers University’s Alternate Route Teacher Training Program. An advocate for underprivileged and underserved students since she began her journey in education, Dr. Hudson has spent fourteen years in urban education and more than ten years in communities with more diverse populations. She also trains novice teachers and works as an education consultant in her tri-state area. Originally from Suffolk, Virginia, Dr. Hudson has lived in New Jersey for fifty years, where she resides with her husband. Although her first love is education, she enjoys reading, writing poetry, and solving crossword puzzles.
