How does one end an intractable war?

The Russo-Ukrainian Conflict started with the Russian annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014, continued with the separatist war in Donbas (2014-2022), and now has morphed into a full-fledged war after the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Since then, the path to lasting peace seems farther away with maximalist demands, a belief in winning on the battlefield, and bullying tactics against civilian targets sowing death and destruction. The current path is one leading to a zero-sum outcome of one victor and one vanquished, but with no ready winner.

The CURD Plan offers a new path. It's a comprehensive double-victory peace plan that allows both Ukraine and Russia to declare their own victory. The CURD Plan stands for the "Crimea-Ukraine-Russia-Donbas" peace plan, with "Donbas" representing all the mainland Ukrainian territories under Russian occupation.

The Plan is built on two Propositions:

While the two Propositions contain peace angles for both countries, why would they get off their warpath and consider them? The CURD Book delves into the rationales for acceptance and the consequences of rejection. The Book expands the two Propositions into 18 comprehensive Points. The first 4 Points codify the two Propositions. The remaining 14 Points outline the concessions designed to strike a balance of mutual benefits. The concessions are not war reparations, since both sides will emerge with their victory. The Points go beyond a ceasefire and a peace agreement, and usher in a new era of friendship between the two neighbors who cannot escape the tyranny of geography.

Who lost Vietnam? Who lost Afghanistan? And who lost Ukraine? Ukraine is not lost yet and may never be. However, the long shadows of these past two wars are descending onto Ukraine. The author bookends the chapters on the CURD Plan with two "My Story" chapters offering tidbits of his youth through the Vietnam War and its aftermath, and his present musing on how the three wars could end up the same: with one side vanquished. Except for one thing: the comprehensive CURD Plan can end the war with a double victory for the two nations, and show the way of friendship for their future generations.

This in-the-nutshell book is an abridged version of the full-text 500-page CURD Book, with incidental chapters summarized, and essential chapters retained to give readers a complete understanding of the CURD Plan. The upcoming full-text version will come in hardcover, paperback, and ebook formats.

The author has two hopes for readers. The first hope is that they enjoy the Book. The second hope is that they will support any merits of the Plan. This edition allows the cut/paste of quotes for easy sharing.
