Leo Zola
On the 5th of July, 1976 in Pontevedra, Spain, the third of four children, Leonardo Fuica, artist name ‘Leo Zola,’ was born. At the age of four, he and his family immigrated to Canada from Spain, settling in Montreal.
Leonardo wrote his first-ever story in second grade called "Waiting In Line" about the subjects that students talk about during the waiting line to pay your food at the cafeteria school. At 12, he received his first acting role as a guest star in ‘Lance et Compte.’ Since then, he regularly landed roles and wrote screenplays like one of his many models, Sir Charlie Chaplin, but kept it a secret for his fear of not writing better or properly. He always just loved writing stories.
After guest-starring in a few TV movies and the mini-series ‘L’affaire Kafka 10-07,’ he landed a regular role in the TV dramas "Les 2 Frères" and "Tag" in Canada. It was during those times he found he had dyslexic, but it didn’t stop him from having original ideas in his head and writing them in his small book of ideas. Ever since those series ended, he has been working nonstop, making his American debut in small films such as "Home Team" with Steven Guttenberg. While working on this film, he grew his interest in production, with the help of his siblings that also working in the film industry.
In 2007, after playing the lead role in his brother’s film ‘Last incarnations,’ he founded Fuica productions inc. and began producing, as well as acting and screenplay writing.
Finally, in 2011, the first ‘Fuica brothers’ movie, was made ‘LA Run’. It was written, produced, and edited primarily by the Fuica family. There accomplishement made them be in Competition at WFFM (Montreal, Canada), FFA (Angouleme, France), and FIFPL (Liege, Belgium). For their work, they also received 3 nominations at the JUTRA AWARDS in 2012 for a best supporting role, best editing, and the one that grew his confidence in writing was the best original screenplay nomination, which was his first public story display. What motivated Leonardo more was his High School Theater and Arts teacher, who had once said that Leonardo would never be able to play or write a book, and would have to do something else in his life.
Leonardo, to this day, proves that dreams are only achieved by trying.
