I grew up in a small town, noting how people interacted, faced hard times and overcame setbacks in their lives.  I wanted to capture those moments of joy, laughter, fear and tension in a world I controlled on the written page.   

As a child, I practiced copying sections of my favorite books to try to learn that rhythm and flow of storytelling.  My efforts to write stories met many a setback as life intervened.  Decades passed.

Over those decades, I’ve learned about people and also about dogs and the special relationship they have with us.  They have always been a part of my life and always will be a part of my stories. A dog’s life may be limited in years but they truly live on in our memories.  I can’t think of a better blessing than to hope everyone has at least one special dog in their life.

I hope this story will give you an opportunity to forget the stresses of today and settle into a different reality filled with moments that make you smile, laugh, raise an eyebrow and lean forward in concern at times as you follow along with the characters.
