Work and technology have always walked together and this relationship gets closer as human beings use them more. The new devices used with the purpose of facilitating and improving the service performed by human labor are increasingly inserted in the worker's daily life.

Technology is a source of creating new scenarios at work:

It acts in a transformative way, changing the way it is performed and improving production and service delivery techniques.

Technological development is so expressive that it ends up operating significant changes in the social and cultural fabric, coming to guide a new society - the information and communication technology society.

From the 1970s on, therefore, a new informational, global and network-structured economy emerged, which began to impact the world of work and transformed its basic structures, since technology became the main connection link for agents humans spread across the globe2.

For this reason, the first chapter begins with the evolution of the Dignity of the Human Person and, consequently, of the worker, due to the growth of their protection in the national and international scope. In this way, the individual's life is valued beyond its basic protection, in its sense of survival, safeguarding other designs intrinsic to the feasibility of a "dignified life", such as: the protection of health, individuality, privacy, family, quality of life, among many others.

Subsequently, the growth in the insertion of technology into work and the distancing from artistic, manual and final work is discussed. It is understood that work and technology developed together, narrowing their relationship as human beings started to use it more.

The new devices became even more relevant with the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and their constant inclusion in human daily life. In this way, technology is the source for creating new scenarios, such as telematics, and it also acts in a transformative way by changing the way it is performed and by improving service delivery techniques in the most diverse areas. However, looking at it from another angle, it is the main annihilator of some sectors, since by facilitating the dissemination of software, anyone who knows how to handle these programs can do the job.

In this sense, it is corroborated that the raw material of work became knowledge and information, so that there was a move away from the factories and an approximation to the World Wide Web, making the link between work and technology even greater.

The second chapter deals with the relationship between time, technology and social acceleration. It is noticed that automation, instead of promoting leisure, ends up increasing the productive capacity and decreasing the worker's rest and leisure time. Technologies, which emerged with the purpose of improving man's life, had made him dependent. In this way, the old adage that technologies would promote leisure is refuted.

It also addresses the new modus operandi of the worker, who, due to the progressive aggregation of electronic means, ends up working too much, since there was an increase in productive capacity. The individualization and miniaturization of electronic devices, coupled with the spread of telematics, allowed workers to perform their tasks more quickly and anywhere. Differently from what was expected, the time that was left was not used for rest, but for the increase in work-related tasks.

However, it was found that technology was a contributor to the increase in production at work and not the cause of this increase, since the cause remains the same as before: the eternal search for the expansion of profits under capitalism.
