My two conventionally published novels are Darkest Desire: The Wolf’s Own Tale (Ecco) and Lost Souls (Available Press/Random House). I’ve worked for a number of national magazines over the years, and was until recently the owner of a neighborhood newspaper, Greening Frogtown, in a part of St. Paul MN that is largely populated by Hmong, Somali and Latino immigrants. I now build replicas of traditional kayaks originally designed by the hunters of the far north, and am president of Qajaq USA, an affiliate of the Greenland national kayak association. I edit the organization's newsletter, the Masik.
