Once she finishes law school in Chicago, Joan Greenway moves back to her home town of Philadelphia and after successfully passing the bar, lands her dream job; working at the largest criminal defense firm in the city.

The job puts her relationship with Deputy District Attorney, Marty Rogers to the test. Marty is an old friend of the family, grew up in the same neighborhood, and fits Joan like a hand to a glove.

Alison’s husband Rich’s best friend, trauma surgeon, Jake Thomas. Their chemistry is intense and Joan’s initial goal during the visit is to keep their relationship as platonic as possible. But the universe has a different idea.
