What was your inspiration for this children's short story in your series of Tales From Over The Moon"?

A……

Kassuku was our real family parrot, so the story of his life was in my head already.

I remember him with huge fondness. He really was a delightful African Grey, born in the Ugandan jungle.

The facts about his life are true: his telling of African legends around a fire pit is, of course, part of Tales From Over The Moon!

Is there a message in the story?

A…..

I think Kassuku was happy in his domesticated life.

But his true purpose, I cannot help but feel, was to remain in the wild where he was born and where he could fly freely with other parrots.

Having said that, had he stayed in the jungle, we would never have had the pleasure of his company!

I think the message is to be happy wherever you find yourself and I believe it is from that happiness that you make your best decisions and become the best version of yourself.
