Fanatical terrorists attack thousands of refugees, but this isn't today’s world. This isn't even our universe. A colossal black hole dominates the few remaining settlements and it’s only a matter of time before it swallows them as well.

In this place, two sides fight a long-running ideological battle: Those who strive to survive and those who don’t see the point. Doing his best to ignore this struggle is Matari, who manages to stay out of it until a talkative hallucination, an annoying acquaintance, and a murderous missionary all propel him into the maelstrom.
