DESCRIPTION

Library management is not a new concept. Evolved with the inception of library, its original concept, that lacked systematic procedure and scientific application, has undergone a remarkable change. In this circumstance, we need such a book that it may meet the new requirements of the students and the professionals of Library Science.

After having gone through several books on Library Science and made an in-depth study, it cropped me up high that I must write a book on library management to fulfil the above requirements. Also, some college students of Library Science have been asking me to write on the subject for a long. Though lots of books are available on the subject, yet there is not such a single book that may contain all issues relating to the library management. In this situation, it becomes tough for the students to read so many books on one subject. Hence, I decided to write such a book that may contain all essential issues in brief to facilitate the students and other readers.

Keeping this literary idea in view, I approached to a well-known Library Science scholar Dr. Kaushal Kishor Chaudhary, Deputy Librarian, Central Library, BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India and requested him for his valuable suggestions and literary assistance which he acceded to gladly and supplied me with his important contents on several chapters. This book is the outcome of this idea and subsequent efforts thereupon.

A Practical Guide to Library Management is intended to serve the important need of the present-day learners and professionals of library management. An attempt has been made in this book to give in brief the learning on almost all issues of good library management. In a nutshell, the book has been made broad-based in order to serve the needs of a wider section of students.
