Patrick Howse
Patrick Howse was a BBC journalist for twenty five years, including more than a decade as a news field producer. He worked in many challenging locations around the world, and between 2004 – 2009 he was deployed to Iraq as the BBC's bureau chief in Baghdad.
On leaving the BBC he spent four years training journalists from international news organizations to work in combat zones and other dangerous places.
Born in England, but by virtue of an Irish grandmother able to retain his European citizenship, he left Britain after it voted to leave the EU. He settled in southern Germany, where he lives close to the mountains and wildlife he finds so inspiring.
He has written two previous collections of poems, Shadow Cast by Mountains, and The Road Taken, both of which were published in the UK by Hayloft Books.
