Edmund Santorine

I would like to share a little about myself and my work as a child therapist, with an emphasis on childhood autism. Over the almost four decades dedicated to this area, I have had the privilege of working with both adults and children on the autism spectrum. This journey has been marked by testimonies of the damage caused by the lack of information and knowledge about how the autistic world works.

It is painful to observe how lack of knowledge generates unfounded fears, promotes the creation of false myths and segregates autistic people from social life. This lack of understanding significantly increases the burden of difficulties that naturally accompany those who live within this special world. As a professional in this area, I feel compelled to promote the sharing of information in order to more humanize each person in relation to integration with the autistic universe.

My goal in writing this book is to provide a trusted source of knowledge and guidance for those who want to better understand childhood autism and more effectively support children on the autism spectrum. Throughout the pages of this guide, you will find not only practical and up-to-date information, but also a compassionate and inclusive approach designed to help build a more welcoming and empathetic environment for all children, regardless of whether they are on the autism spectrum or not.

I hope this book serves as a valuable tool to promote a deeper understanding and broader acceptance of childhood autism, empowering readers to challenge stigmas, overcome prejudices, and cultivate a more inclusive and supportive society. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children on the autism spectrum and create a world where everyone can thrive and be truly valued for who they are.
