The concept of cognitive behavioral therapy is how we think influences how we feel and how we feel influences how we behave and how we behave influences how we live our lives and the choices we make. irrational beliefs that you are disputing. CBT teach the clients how to be assertive and more importantly the difference between being assertive and being aggressive. Focus therapy emphasizes changing negative thoughts and maladaptive beliefs so it changes negative thoughts into more positive and reality-based thoughts. If we can change our thoughts we can change our behavior. CBT therapists won't dismiss someone's beliefs but they try and work with them to change them in a way that are more beneficial to them.
