Jamie Dalton writes contemporary gothic fiction where the supernatural is never quite what it seems – and falling in love won't make it any better.<br><br>With a BA (Hons) in English with Creative Writing and an MSc in Psychology, she crafts stories that explore grief, violence, and all the things that make us human – even if her characters aren't.<br><br>A lifelong devotee of vampire fiction, from Buffy to Anne Rice, Jamie brings her own perspective to the genre: so long as it's atmospheric, morally all over the place, and refuses the easy answer. Her family roots from Edinburgh to Orkney influence both her storytelling and some of her readers' favourite characters.<br><br>Based in Sheffield, UK with her husband, daughter and more books than she has room for, Jamie draws inspiration from the city's unique location and spends much of her time devouring vampire literature, getting lost in unnecessarily accurate historical research, and trying to work out if immortality would actually be much fun.
