Richard B Westlein

World traveler, cameraman, and writer Richard B. Westlein has written about Bob Dylan since 2005, listened to his music since 1964, and attended more than 20 of his concerts. He has been a guest on George Walsh’s WCWP radio show <em>Knockin’ on Dylan’s Door</em>. Richard also spoke at the 2019 Bob Dylan Symposium at the University of Tulsa.<br>&nbsp;<br>Before shifting his focus to writing, he worked in network television. Richard has been honored with 13 National Emmy Awards for technical team excellence in broadcast television in sports and drama. He has made 13 primetime television appearances on Monday Night Football. In 1989, he founded Jupiter Video Inc., a broadcast television production company serving many network and cable broadcasters.<br>&nbsp;<br>Richard earned his Bachelor of Arts in theatrical and cinematic studies from Sarah Lawrence College. While there, he sat in on Joseph Campbell’s and E.L. Doctorow’s lectures. He also spoke at his alma mater, describing his three-month, 10,000-mile journey inside the People’s Republic of China as a cinematographer on the film documentary <em>China Mission</em>. Richard went on to get his Master’s degree in liberal studies from the City University of New York in 2019.<br>&nbsp;<br>Born in Bethesda, Maryland, today Richard Westlein divides his time between his New York and Florida homes. He has a wide range of interests and is a rock music keyboard and acoustic guitar player, video editor, and independent filmmaker.
