<p>In 2013 I became homeless. I was 18, no ID, no diploma, and new to the real world. I had been raised as a ward of the state since I was 8 years old, and for the last 10 years, I had only really seen the outside world from an institutionalized residential treatment center packed with other foster children labeled too troublesome and/or too old. Along that journey, I realized that no matter the circumstances or my situation in life I was still experiencing things I had only read about in books while stuck in my room. This is my journey and what I learned about the way of the world so far.
