L.L. Soares was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, once a great whaling port.<br><br><em>Life Rage</em>, his first novel, won the 2012 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in the First Novel category. Since then, his books have included the novels <em>Rock’n’ Roll</em>, <em>Hard</em>, <em>Buried in Blue Clay</em>, and <em>Teach Them How To Bleed</em>; the short story collections In <em>Sickness</em> (with Laura Cooney) and <em>Something Blue (and Other Colorful Deaths)</em>; and the novellas <em>Breaking Eggs</em> (with Kurt Newton) and <em>Green Tsunami</em> (also with Laura Cooney).<br><br>His interests include movies (especially art films, horror, and film noir), music (everything from jazz to punk rock to death metal), and comics. He lives in the Boston area with his wife and their pet iguana, Osiris, Lord of the Dead.
