Joseph Luxbacher

<p>Joseph Luxbacher, PhD, has been involved in the sport of soccer as a player and a coach for more than 30 years.&nbsp;A former professional player in the North American Soccer League (NASL) and Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), he still holds the men&#39; s soccer scoring records at the University of Pittsburgh for most career goals, most career points, and most goals scored in one game.&nbsp; He was the head men&rsquo;s soccer coach at the University of Pittsburgh from 1985 through 2015, when he retired from college coaching.</p><p>Luxbacher&#39;s&nbsp;college teams have won over 200 times at the Division I level, and he has twice been selected as &quot;Big East Conference Soccer Coach of the Year.&quot; He has authored more than a dozen books and numerous articles on the topics of soccer and peak athletic performance.&nbsp; His various soccer books have sold&nbsp;more than 250,000 copies, and have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Indonesian, Greek, Malaysian, and Serbian.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;Coach Luxbacher is an inductee into the Beadling Sports/Soccer Club Hall of Fame (1995), the Upper St. Clair High School Athletic Hall of Fame (2002), and the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame (2005). He was selected as a &quot;Letterman of Distinction&quot; at the University of Pittsburgh in 2003.&nbsp; Luxbacher holds a doctorate in Health, Physical and Recreation Education, and has served as the Fitness Editor of Total Health Magazine. He also wrote a biweekly fitness Q &amp; A for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the major newspaper in western Pennsylvania,&nbsp; for a number of years. Luxbacher has written and produced a DVD Coaching Series titled WINNING SOCCER for sportvideos.com. He lives in southwestern Pennsylvania with his wife Gail, daughter Eliza, son Travis, and dog Winston</p>
