About the author

Deborah Tadema

Deborah Tadema, featured in the New York Times, writes stories where honor collides with consequence and redemption waits quietly at the edge of every choice. As the author behind the acclaimed ‘Honor’ Series and ‘Sievers’ Series, she’s built a world of characters who wrestle with betrayal, forgiveness, and the hard-won grace that follows personal reckoning.

Raised in Port Stanley, Ontario, as the eldest of six, Deborah learned early about resilience, loyalty, and the quiet strength it takes to hold a family together. Those early lessons pulse through her novels in the shape of emotionally charged tales of faith, love, and the invisible threads that bind people even when the world falls apart. After earning a Diploma in Short Story and Fiction Writing and completing three advanced levels of creative writing, Deborah honed her craft through years of critique circles, workshops, and relentless storytelling.

Her books blend historical realism with moral complexity, drawing readers into narratives of courage, forgiveness, and second chances. Whether exploring the aftermath of war, the secrets that fracture families, or the power of faith to restore broken lives, Deborah’s work speaks to readers who crave stories with soul. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, mentoring new authors, or tending to her garden, where she says, “the stories seem to grow right alongside the flowers”.

Discover her full catalog, series timelines, and upcoming releases and step into a world where every story begins with a choice and every choice carries the weight of honor.

Reviews

“The author takes on a wild and unpredictable journey with incredible twists and turns of events. Deborah Tadema weaves her story of rivalry and deception and she tells her tale with utmost skillfulness as a writer.”

After his father’s will stipulates that in order to inherit his father’s shipping company, Mitch must hire his estranged stepbrother, Tom, with one woman caught between the two. Both brothers fight a battle of wits and emotions to settle a long-held dispute. Unsettled results complicate unresolved relationships to the last page. In this family drama, there definitely is no honor between brothers, especially where a certain woman is concerned.

I am a sucker for any book with a sea creature or lake monster and locked on Bessie: The Monster in Lake Erie as soon as I saw it. Deborah Tadema does a terrific job evoking a sixties-era Ontario lakeside town, telling a summertime story about family, regret, the environment, and hidden malice. Bessie, the titular monster with the not-so-scary name, is arguably a little too human in outlook but creates a solid center for people coming to terms with the past, and trying to do the right thing. Recommended with iced tea on the deck.

Silent Wings This is a touching story that blends the spiritual with everyday life. Eve Webber has a special connection with those who are on the other side. Many don't want Eve to even speak of that special connection, worried others will think Eve is crazy. Sometimes though, it is special connections that help us through this world. The author writes a great story that looks at life, this, the next, and all the possibilities that join them.

If you're looking for a novel that will keep you surprised and on your toes - look no further than Abandoned Honor.
