Even in high school, I wanted to witness, but it seemed as if I was chasing people away. I realized in Bible College and seminary that witnessing had to take place in the real world, outside those two bubbles (which I loved). I tried different methods and even pestered the youth group I was leading about sharing the Gospel with people. I am an extroverted talker, so I thought that if I could say the right thing, people might come to the Lord.
Then Christine and I went to Austria and I couldn't speak the language. Using my gift-of-gab was useless. What I discovered there helped us and co-workers start three Bible churches. We motivated people to just read the Bible with us, and the ones who did began to turn to the Lord.
As I shared this approach, people from many different cultures and with many different personalities suddenly were able to find friends and family members who were seeking God. When we returned to the United States, and I taught in three Bible Colleges, we planted two more churches through evangelism.
I love teaching and coaching others to evangelize. It is much easier than one is taught to believe. It all starts with.... No, I'll need a couple of blogs to finish that sentence.
