<p>A graduate of the University of Chicago, Gail Tanzer taught art history at two universities. She now writes books to create interest in artists with compelling stories who once were famous but are now not as widely known. Her previously published books are: Duccio and the Maestà, Across the Alps (about Albrecht Dürer,) and Graven Images (about Augusta Savage.)</p>
