Janet Elliott is a retired retail corporation owner and an advocate for special education, drawing from her personal experiences growing up with a developmentally disabled brother in the 1960s and 1970s. Her journey from sibling to author has been driven by a passion for sharing the realities of life with neurodivergent family members and the evolution of special needs support over the decades.<br>​​​​​​​<br>Dedicated to raising awareness about developmental disabilities and the importance of family advocacy, Janet’s mission is to inspire educators, social workers, and parents of neurodivergent children. Her work highlights the critical role of early intervention, inclusive education, and unconditional family support in nurturing the potential of neurodivergent individuals.<br>​​​​​​​<br>Janet’s expertise stems from a lifetime of firsthand experience, complemented by extensive research into the history of developmental disability treatment and education. Her professional background as a successful business owner in Ontario and Florida for 18 years has honed her skills in communication, management, and perseverance.<br>​​​​​​​<br>A proud grandmother of eight, Janet’s roots trace back to Kent County, England. Raised in Ontario, Canada, she now splits her time between Southern USA and a cozy cottage in Balm Beach, Ontario.
