Susan Kersley

I was a doctor for thirty years. In 1999 in San Diego, I trained to run workshops based on Louise Hay's book, 'You can heal your life.' For several years I ran workshops in Cornwall, UK. The aim was to enable participants to understand themselves better and then find how to move forward more positively in life.

After I retired from medicine, I read about coaching and realised that, as a doctor, I had useful and special insights and life experience about a doctor's life, so I focussed on coaching doctors.
Rhona MacDonald, the editor of Career Focus, part of the British Medical Journal, contacted me. She was very interested in what I was doing and encouraged me to write a series of articles about life coaching and how it can enable doctors to have a life. As a result, I wrote each month about how doctors could have more time and a better work-life balance. These articles published in the British Medical Journal and eventually developed into books for doctors: ‘Prescription for Change - for Doctors who want a life,’ ‘ ABC of Change for Doctors,’ and 'Life after Medicine - for Doctors who want a trouble-free transition.

Since then I’ve also written and published various books, eBooks and audiobooks, including personal development books, self-help books, and novels for doctors and others.
