About the author

Eileen Colette

Eileen Colette is a registered nurse, caregiver, singer, and passionate gardener who believes healing takes root in both soil and soul. She spent years nurturing people's bodies in hospital rooms and their spirits through quiet prayers in garden beds.

Eileen is the founder of Roots OMG (Of My Garden)—a creative space where growth is messy, hope is planted deep, and conversations bloom between life and leaves. Her debut book, Why Plants Die and Other Happy Thoughts, reflects her love for storytelling, spiritual reflection, and humorous honesty about the hard stuff.

When she's not writing, Eileen can be found teaching garden classes in her Ohio community, raising three kids with her husband, and talking to her plants like they're old friends (because they are).

Her deepest desire is to see people grow, even when life feels dry, broken, or buried. Through her words and work, she reminds readers: you don't have to bloom to be alive—sometimes rooting is the holiest thing you can do.
